Food Sector

Sugar: The first founders of the sugar industry in Turkey were the intelligent young engineers send to Europe for education, just after the establishment of Turkish Republic in 1923. The founder of Turkish republic Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has given great importance to the sugar industry and first industrial investments were done for the sugar industry. Totally 30 state own sugar factories were constructed by Turkish Sugar Industry. Later in 1990’s some sugar factories were privatised and private sugar companies were established and. Ekodenge staff had the opportunity of working and cooperating with some worldwide known German Companies active in sugar business, during development of sugar industry since 1970’s. Later after the privatisation of some sugar factories, capacity increase and modernisation of sugar factories were achieved with same German Companies.

Starch, Sweetener: The Turkish Sugar Authority has been established in 2001 to ensure application of the sugar law and arrange the sugar quotas for the companies. Besides arranging the sugar quota among the state owned and private sugar companies, The Sugar Authority has also permitted production of sweetener at a ratio of sugar production. Especially production of sweetener from corn has been restricted. This registration caused the further development and modernisation of the sweetener producing companies... The successful experiences of Ekodenge staff and the representing companies caused further success at this field.

Water Treatment

Most important topic at environment has also a great importance at the food sector. Especially the supply of the process water and treatment of the waste water adds more costs on the production of sugar, starch, alcohol and other food products.
