İzmir Opera Building Architectural Project Competition
Opera House Competition, İzmir
The opera house is planned for Izmir of Turkey’s most beautiful seaside city, it aims to meet the city’s contemporary art activities. This building, which has a special character that can be a turning point for regional development in the future, offers different space alternatives for various art shows with its flexible planning. The project also includes a park designed between the opera house and the seaside. The plan is solved by taking advantage of the natural ventilation facilities by taking into account the hot and humid climate conditions.Furthermore, flexible plan solutions and versatile space alternatives are offered for various art performances.
The design submitted for the competition held for development of environmentally-friendly working and production areas provides a relationship between the project and its surrounding through reduction of footprint of the building, enhancement of outdoor space use and circulation organization which facilitates pedestrian circulation.
Basic design objectives are to provide a sustainable cooperation, research and working environment, to raise awareness on clean production processes and sustainability of buildings, to be a pioneer in terms of contemporary aggregation, working and cooperation methods, to enhance competitiveness at international level and to develop a model OIZ at international level.
